Vietnam visa extension and renewal
When you are staying in Vietnam and your visa is about to expire, you will need to extend or renew the visa. You will be able to stay in Vietnam longer without leaving Vietnam when your visa expires. When you need to extend and when you need to renew the visa?
1. Vietnam visa extension
Visa Extension means that you will have new staying duration permission in Vietnam. With visa extension, you only can stay in Vietnam without exiting Vietnam during your extended visa.This means you must apply for a new visa if you wish to come back Vietnam after leaving.
In order to apply for visa extension, your current visa has to meet some requirements of Vietnam Immigration Department as below:
– Your current visa type has to be correspondent to your staying extending requirement.
– One more month extension: If your current visa is 1 month single/ multiple, 3 month single/ multiple, you can extend visa for 1 month more
– Three more month extension: If your current visa is 3 month single/multiple, you can extend visa for 3 month more.
2. Vietnam visa renewal
Visa renewal means that you are granted a new visa stamp and visa sticker on your passport with the new duration.The staying length is valid maximum in 3 months. Visa renewal is applied for someone who:
– Entered Vietnam with visa exemption.
– Has current visa is not correspondent to your staying extending requirement.
If you would like to upgrade your current visa from 1 month to 3 month, you have to renew 3 month single/multiple entry
If you would like to upgrade your current visa from single entry to multiple entry, you have to renew the visa.
